DOE Issues a Final Rule Pertaining to the “Process Rule”

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a pre-publication Federal Register final rule pertaining to Procedures, Interpretations, and Policies for Consideration in New or Revised Energy Conservation Standards and Test Procedures for Consumer Products and Commercial/Industrial Equipment (“Process Rule”).  The revisions adopted in this final rule are consistent with longstanding DOE practice and would remove unnecessary obstacles to DOE’s ability to meet its statutory obligations under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (“EPCA”).

  • The effective date of this rule is 30 days after the notice has published in the FEDERAL REGISTER. DOE will send a follow up email to announce the effective date once the notice has been published.
