Recent BETO Webinars Available for Public Viewing
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) has hosted a number of recent webinars which are now available to the public. Check out these webinars below, where you can access the webinar recordings, downloadable presentations, and transcripts.
September 30, 2021: Co-Optimization of Fuels & Engines past, present, and future: What did we learn and where do we go next?
New Co-Optima knowledge and tools point the way to cleaner, more efficient engines. This webinar looked at the initiative’s accomplishments in the broader context of what might come next for internal combustion engine research in a rapidly changing world, factoring in increased vehicle electrification and a pressing need to reduce the carbon intensity of transportation.

September 16, 2021: How ABPDU Is Training the Next Generation of Bioprocess Engineers
Biotech and bioprocessing play a key role in mitigating climate change, but these industries face a pressing need for experienced people who can bring bio-based, sustainable products to market.
A new college course taking place at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory’s Advanced Biofuels and Bioproducts Process Development Unit (ABPDU) aims to meet this need by providing students with hands-on experience with industry-relevant bioprocessing equipment. Part of the University of California, Berkeley’s Master of Bioprocess Engineering program, the course prepares students for careers in the biopharmaceutical, industrial biotech, or food tech industries.
